Safety first!

Our MTB programs are full of fast-paced, fun and exciting elements. In order to make the week as safe as possible, at UCPA we value safety in terms of equipment and knowledge.

We pay all our attention to the safety elements and protection of the equipment. Every day we check that the bike is in good condition and that the protective equipment is correct. We work as a team to ensure that our guests receive the best and safest training possible, based on:

  • Everyone's responsibility for their safety and the safety of others
  • Knowledge of the rules, uses and applications
  • Self-assessment and control of speed
  • Knowledge of triggering emergency services
  • Risk management

It explores all kinds of terrain on fast and long distances, giving you a perfect start into the MTB world. During the week, you will learn the basics of mountain biking and gradually develop the technical and strategic elements. The goal is eventually to manage and control your ride on all possible surfaces.

Downhill

Here you ride at a high pace down mountain slopes in rocky, winding and demanding terrain. During the week, the cycling takes place on varied and challenging courses, where many adrenaline kicks are promised! Being attentive and staying focused will be an important part. The downhill bikes are also adapted with good damping so that you can control your driving in the toughest situations in the best possible way.

Here, you usually use the lift to get up to the height. From there you take on descents on prepared downhill courses. The program is a bit more demanding and has a higher technical level than our classic MTB programs, so we recommend previous experience of MTB.

Enduro / Single Track

Enduro has quickly become a popular sport in MTB, and is to some extent similar to our downhill programs. This is for those who have some previous experience of All Mountain, Cross Country or Downhill, but are now looking for a new adventure with new challenges!

The big difference is that in these programs you usually do not use the lift to go uphill, but climbs are also done on a bike. Good fitness and endurance are therefore an advantage. You then take on the winding and narrow single tracks at a fast pace, where control and handling of the bike is crucial. As in our downhill programs, this requires extra focus and attention as you encounter many challenging but fun obstacles along the way.

If mountain biking is your passion, you can experience a variety of adventures on two wheels with UCPA. Mountain biking is called VTT (Vélo Tout Terrain) in French, meaning you ride in all kinds of terrain. Cycling is a major sport in France and many of the tours organized by UCPA are relatively demanding. On winding paths and sometimes even with the help of ski lifts and trains, you explore the exciting environment around Chamonix, Les Arcs & Serre Chevalier. In addition to MTB in its classic form, we also offer Downhill and Enduro. The Downhill programs focus on cycling on the resort's varied and challenging downhill trails, where the climbs are often facilitated with the help of lifts. The Enduro programs use natural downhill routes that are mostly single track. Here you get the chance to experience a fast-paced and exciting week together with other like-minded people.

A typical day

Whether full or half day, the activity starts with a full safety check of bikes and equipment. During the day, you'll be guided by your instructor who will plan each day according to conditions such as weather, wind and surface to get the best out of each lesson.
